What's new

What came in each update, newest first.

In the browser now (24 October 2026)

What's new in the browser version since 20 October; the downloads get it with the next release.

  • From the driver's seat: in the first person you sit in the car, at a dash of its own: the speedometer, the map and the weather in the cluster behind a wheel that turns with yours, and your phone on its mount beside it (N opens it there when you stop). On the dirt bike the screens sit on the bars.
  • Nowhere FM: the phone's radio, Mixtape, starts on our own station: calm music made for the drive, jazzier in the afternoon and mellower at night, playing offline too, through the car's speakers.
  • One key for what's by you: F (a gamepad's D-pad left) does what's in reach, and a small prompt says what: get in by the driver's door, take a bike off the rack or put it back, hitch or unhitch the trailer (it waits where you leave it), launch the jet ski or load it, sit by the fire.
  • A quick menu: hold Enter (a gamepad's View) for a wheel of what you can do right now, for the car, the bike, the boat, the wing or on foot; the world slows while it's open.
  • Garage on the phone: your vehicles, what's on the racks, the paint, the trip meter and the driving settings in one app.
  • Set up camp: a tent and a campfire, placed where they fit, kept where you left them; the fire burns day and night, and friends in a roam can pitch their tents round it.
  • Sit down: cross-legged on the grass, or on a wall or a bench edge with your feet down.
  • Yourself: a new man and woman to walk as, and in Me the colour of your top, trousers and shoes, your skin tone and your hair; your car's paint in Garage. Friends in a roam see you as you are, with your blinkers, the bike on your roof, the trailer behind you and the dog on the passenger seat.
  • Roads that join: junctions and roundabouts are one stretch of asphalt now, no seams where the roads meet; tyres leave rubber where they slide.
  • On the cluster: an odometer and a trip meter; indicators can switch on and off by themselves as you turn (Garage › Driving), and the engine can start with the throttle.
  • The water: the jet ski squats back as you open the throttle; you row facing the stern, a pull a stroke, the oars in your hands.
  • Also: a new title, every vehicle with an engine of its own and new tyre sounds, music on the globe, forests that reach further into the distance, and a site update now downloads only the parts of Głowno that changed.

In the browser (20 October 2026)

What's new in the browser version since 0.12.0; the downloads get it with the next release.

  • A globe to start from: the Earth as it is right now, day where the sun is up and the cities' lights where it's night, with the places to drive listed down the side. Pick one and you're there. The map (M) has a way back to the globe.
  • On the water: a kayak, a rowing boat and a stand-up jet ski. Paddle a stroke at a time, row, or ride, and leave wakes behind you. The kayak rides on the car's roof rack and the jet ski on a trailer, launched by the lake with Y. Wade in or swim, but a car driven in too deep drowns its engine.
  • In the air: a paraglider (run off a slope into the wind) and a paramotor, with the real weather's wind and lift off the hills.
  • Through your own eyes: C now goes from the chase camera to the first person (on foot, from the driver's seat or the saddle) to the view from above. The chase camera sits lower and closer, the road ahead over the car's roof.
  • A new garage: the Explorer, a wagon, a minivan, a lifted pickup and a small electric hatchback, a new trekking bike and dirt bike. V opens a list of what you can take here.
  • Mud, dust and wear on every vehicle, picked up off road and washed off by rain and water. Tyres leave ruts in soft ground and you leave footprints, and they sound like what they roll on.
  • Traffic lights at Głowno's signalled junctions, flashing amber at night, and new street lamps.
  • The look:
    • Water like a soft mirror, see-through near the shore, calm or rough with the wind.
    • Grass as a thick blanket, taller and uneven, and crops on the fields through the farming year.
    • Fuller tree crowns, and in autumn, fallen leaves under the trees that shed them.
    • Roads and paths worn into the ground rather than laid on it, the ground darker round houses and under trees, and the main roads ploughed in winter.
    • Light: bloom, and a colour grade that follows the hour and the air.
    • Buildings as they are: each at its real height, its roof pitched or flat, gabled or hipped as it really is (measured from GUGiK's laser-scanned surface model), and in its real colour from the aerial photos: Głowno's roofs are mostly grey and dark, with the red ones where they really are.
    • Trees where they stand: every tree the laser scan sees, at its height: in the forests, along the streets, in gardens and hedgerows.
  • Quality presets (Low to Ultra) in the settings, for the whole picture, not only the water.
  • Screenshots: F12 saves one to your Pictures with where and when it was taken; Shift+F12 leaves out the dashboard.
  • The sounds of the place: thunder after lightning, rain on the leaves, water lapping and geese.
  • Also: the map pans with the arrow keys or WASD. On foot you have new moves, and wheels get dirty all round, not only their bottom halves.

0.12.0 (12 October 2026)

  • Smoother still: pictures and text go to the graphics card in a form it takes at once, so the frames where new land arrived no longer stall. The map (M) drags and zooms at once, however much of it there is.
  • Tunnels and bridges built from what's around them: a tunnel under a street now goes deep enough to stay covered, the ways over a tunnel or a cutting keep the street's level, and road edges no longer hang down into the hollows beside them.
  • Under the hood: gasm 0.15, with the fixes for the issues we reported.

0.11.0 (10 October 2026)

  • Smoother on the move: the downloaded game prepares the land ahead on your computer's other cores while you drive, so the next stretch comes in without a stutter. Roads are lighter for the same look, and the map's street name no longer costs a frame.
  • Under the hood: gasm 0.14, the runtime the game runs in.

0.10.0 (9 October 2026)

  • A new look.
    • Haze: the distance fades into bands of haze, warm towards a low sun. It's as thick as the real air: crisp after rain or in a wind, soft on a humid, still day.
    • Light that follows the sky: a warm sun and blue shade on a clear day, orange at sunset, flat and grey under cloud, bright over snow.
    • Grass in fine blades, with flowers in spring and summer and tips that glow against a low sun.
    • Trees with real branches: spruces, pines, birches and broadleaves, young trees among the old, and bushes along forest edges, in gardens and in parks. In autumn the leaves turn and fall tree by tree, down to bare branches.
    • Buildings made of what they're made of there: plastered houses under clay or metal tiles, brick and block outbuildings, wooden sheds and barns, metal halls. They have windows and doors to match, and some windows are lit at night.
    • Roads and ground with texture: asphalt, gravel, pavers, furrowed fields. Wet roads are dark, with puddles.
  • Time & Weather on the phone (6): set the time, the day, how fast the clock runs and the weather there, or sync with the real world (K). The T panel keeps the vehicle and the screen.
  • A pet: take a cat or a dog along (Enter on foot). It follows you, sits and lies down when you stop, and rides on the passenger seat.
  • You, a man or a woman: choose in Me (Body). Your friends see you that way in a roam.
  • Off road: the Explorer and the pickup get low range and diff locks (Enter), and the handbrake swings the back out.
  • The horn (H) and the bicycle's bell, which friends in a roam hear from where you are; the hazards are on End now.
  • Bikes onto the car from the Enter menu, and off again.
  • In a roam, cars bump like cars: hitting a friend's car shoves it and slows you, instead of stopping you dead as a wall would.
  • Smoother: movement no longer judders at a steady frame rate, the first brake no longer hitches, and the camera follows the mouse without a click, but not once the pointer has left the window.
  • From players' reports: gables meet their walls, windows on a slope start above the ground, the tyres' dust is back, and the tyres' sound doesn't stutter between surfaces.
  • Also: the ground card is gone from the screen.

0.9.0 (8 October 2026)

  • Roam with friends. Postcards on the phone (5) starts a roam: you get a code to give your friends, or you join theirs. Everyone drives their own car or bike, or walks, under the host's sky and weather. Names float over the players but never show in your photos. You see their lights, their phone when they take it out, and the car they parked.
  • Friends and messages in Postcards, off until you turn them on. You get a friend code to share. Add friends by theirs, write to them, and invite them into your roam ("Wish you were here"). The service keeps your name, your code and your friends, and messages only until they're delivered. Turning it off deletes it all.
  • Tunnels and underpasses: paths and roads that go under an embankment run through on their own floor, between walls and under a roof, with a concrete head wall at each mouth.
  • From players' reports:
    • junctions beside bridges lie flat;
    • roads cross small valleys on a gentle fill instead of dipping down into them;
    • ramps on a slope lie level;
    • no grass through stairs;
    • bus stops have proper shelters.
  • Off-road gauges in the Explorer, the pickup and the dirt bike: an inclinometer and a small compass beside the speedometer.
  • Smoother: the browser renders at 75 % by default; a world that moves around you less often (a hitch when driving fast is gone).
  • Typing in the browser: the phone's text boxes take letters and pastes there too.
  • Also: a new achievement; the phone's mouse stays with the phone; the achievements fit on one screen.

0.8.0 (8 October 2026)

  • The title screen: the game opens on its title over the hills while the land around you loads.
  • The phone's new apps:
    • Support (7): report a problem with a screenshot, read the answers, reply, and go back to the spot;
    • Settings (8);
    • Me (9): your id without an account, moved between computers with a secret;
    • Achievements (0): badges that don't say what they're for until you earn them.
  • Notifications: pull them down from the top of the phone. A welcome the first time you play.
  • Privacy: no account, no tracking. An Online switch keeps the game off the network.
  • The world:
    • trees in parks and cemeteries, and the single trees and rows the map has;
    • a bridge of several ways is one deck;
    • pavements lie level with their streets;
    • a side street at a T junction goes under the road it meets.
  • The phone goes away when you set off, and the numpad opens apps too.

0.7 (7 October 2026)

  • The weather app (6), and the real weather kept up to date while you play.
  • Railways at their level: tracks run through level crossings and beside rail bridges, and streets keep their own level under them.
  • An EV, and bikes carried on the cars (a roof rack, a hitch, the pickup's bed).
  • Rides in the Fitness app, and the minimap on foot.
  • A new app icon, the site's car.

0.6 and before

  • Two wheels: a bicycle and a dirt bike. They lean, and you can wheelie, hop, change gears by hand and walk them back.
  • On foot: get out anywhere, walk and jog, sit, and use the flashlight. The phone is in your hand, with a camera that puts the real place in each picture's details.
  • Głowno from open data: its streets, buildings, fields, forests and water. Real sun and moon, seasons, real weather, and a car with weight.
